Marketing and Promotions

You don’t want to send your messages too early, as it might annoy your customers. The best time would be between 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays. It might be a good idea to send your SMS & MMS bulk messages at random times like 10:34 or 3:03 to avoid falling at that hour or half-hour time other companies or businesses might be using. You don’t want your marketing messages to get lost amongst the masses. When in doubt, noon is always the perfect time to send a message regardless of the day of the week.

For restaurants: people usually think about what they want to eat about an hour before their meal. So, if you want to target their brekkie time or morning coffee, 8:01 a.m. would be the time to send that SMS. If you’re going for lunchtime, then sending an SMS around 11:33 a.m. would be ideal. If you’re trying to book them for dinner or takeaway then at about 4:32 p.m.

For Commercial and Retail: Anytime after 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. is right on the target. They’ve already woken up and had their morning coffee, which means they’re alert. It’s right before they head home and face their rush-hour commute or go into their family or gym time. If you’re having a weekend sale or holiday sale, then sending your SMS or MMS campaign two-three days before will do the trick.

Appointments, Reminders, and Confirmations

Between work and personal life, it’s easy for most people to forget things. The best way to remind your customers about appointments is by texting them a reminder 24 hours before. For order, payment, and shipping confirmations specific times aren’t as important. Most customers want to know earlier rather than later, so anytime between 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. is prime alert time. Waiting until the last minute to send a payment or shipping alert is never a good idea as it will only make your customers panic.

One last thing to consider: time zones

Sending that message at 9:00 a.m. Sydney/ Melbourne time might seem like a good idea, but your customer in Perth would tell you otherwise. Before sending a bulk SMS or MMS make sure you keep your customers’ time zone in mind. Make different lists for customers in different states. You can always schedule and stagger your campaigns ahead of time.
